Admit it! We’ve all had an NCAA March Madness Bracket busted by some school that snuck into the tournament that we’ve never heard of. Last year there were a bunch of bracket busters that happened in the first couple of rounds and many basketball fans were left sitting watching the rest of the tournament with no hope in winning their contest.
If you are truly intent on winning your NCAA March Madness Bracket then you need to be wary of a few teams that could be the upset or Cinderella picks of 2018 or even if they don’t go far, could be the team that busts your bracket in the first round.
Obviously where they are seeded and who they are playing matters the most in trying to predict the sleeper teams of the tournament but regardless all the teams below are worth being leery of.

Top Bracket Buster Teams For March Madness 2018

Vermont Catamounts
Vermont has had a solid year and did it without one of their best players Anthony Lamb. Lamb is now back from injury and at 100%. He was a bit rusty in his first game back but the Catamounts could be poised for a 1st round upset win. That may be as far as a Cinderella story they will have, I don’t see them getting past the round of 32 this year.

Loyola-Chicago Ramblers
This may be the most popular Cinderella Sleeper team 2018 and it helps that they may be a 12 seed going into the NCAA Tournament – There is always a 12th seed that knocks off a 5 seed almost every year (just see our NCAA March Madness Bracket Tips To Win article for more on that). Loyola ranks in the Top 20 shooting around 41% from 3-point land allowing just around 63 points per game. Defense and a hot 3 point game could get them into the second round easily.

Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders
The Raiders have been NCAA Bracket Busters the last two years when as a 15 seed they beat Michigan State in 2016 and then last year as a 12th seed (told you about the 12 seeds) beat Minnesota. They haven’t moved on past the second round yet but this team could be good enough to move on to the Sweet 16 especially if their defense keeps playing the way it has all year.

Saint Bonaventure Bonnies
I am confident in the Bonnies winning the 1st round of the tourney, after that they may face the Tar Heels. If they play and beat UNC they will be the Cinderella story of 2018. The backcourt of Matt Mobley and Jaylen Adams combined to score over 1000 points this year and beat teams like Maryland, Syracuse and Rhode Island so they have the talent to do some damage as a longshot pick in 2018.

Michigan Wolverines
OK, so I’ve had Michigan circled for a while and then they went on a run and beat the Spartans and then Purdue and may have climbed to sit at a #3 seed position…not exactly a Cinderella team by definition but they would have to face Duke and many will have Duke as a Final Four team. With how well the Wolverines have played they could be a Final Four team which means that beating Duke would bust a bunch of brackets in the East.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
Gonzaga is a projected 5 seed – not exactly Sleeper pick material either but this is also a team that was in the championship last year and lost to UNC. A loss to St. Mary’s in January hurt their rankings but this team has a solid offense and is generally a good team all around with very few weaknesses. Gonzaga winning and getting to the Final Four doesn’t really qualify them as a Cinderella pick but there probably won’t be many March Madness Brackets that have Gonzaga going that deep in the tournament.
