Last year Sergio Garcia won the Masters Tournament and it reaffirmed that when the odd makers at sites like Bovada make up the list of favorites to win the Masters that you shouldn’t go too far down the list of golfers to pick a winner. Since 2000 you can argue that only 4 guys won at Augusta that no one saw winning (Mike Weir, Trevor Immelman, Angel Cabrera and Danny Willett). The rest of the names on the winners list you can see that they were a favorite to win going into the tournament.
The point of that history lesson is that if you are going to pick some guys as potential winners of the 2018 Masters Tournament, don’t start looking for longshot picks that are going to pay off. When Danny Willett won in 2016 he was only an 80-1 pick at Bovada.

2018 Masters Favorites To Win

Would Dustin Johnson have won the Masters last year if he hadn’t fallen down some stairs? Won’t ever know that answer but we do know that DJ has been on a solid role the last couple of years and the 2018 Masters Tournament may just become the icing on the cake. His odds are already pretty low so you aren’t going to get a huge payout on a bet but he is a solid play nonetheless. Maybe just target him in head to head games.

So yeah, Tiger is back. The golfing world took notice and the ratings went through the roof as Tiger Woods came into Sunday at the Valspar Championship with a chance to win for the 1st time since 2013. He has had back to back great performance as he heads to Bay Hill for his next event. Can the impossible happen? Can Tiger Woods actually win the Masters in 2018? At 9 to 1, the odds say there is a more then just a chance, he's a top favorite heading to Augusta.

As we mentioned in our Masters Preview page, Jordan’s record at Augusta has a win, two 2nd place finishes and an 11th. Spieth’s game sets up well for the course and he is always in contention to win. He is like DJ, low payout odds at Bovada and other betting sites but he is one that I would target if you are looking for a top favorite to win.

McIlroy will one day win the Masters. It could be this year, it could be 20 years later like Sergio but he is always in the mix of things and is on a 4 year Top 10 finish streak going into this year. Rory has the game to win any tournament he’s in, just sometimes he tends to flake out a round and that’s what kills his week. He is a 4 time major winner and The Masters is the one piece he’s missing for the career slam.

If he’s healthy (his back acts up on occasion) Jason Day is as good a pick as any to win. He’s come close twice with a 2nd and 3rd and has never finished worse than 28th (not including a WD due to injury). Day had personal issues last year but has started off the 2018 PGA Tour calendar already with a win and some solid finishes. He’s a threat to win and you get a bit better odds with him.

With how Thomas is playing in 2018 he will be the name mentioned the most to win at Augusta this year. He’s had respectable showings with a 22nd and a 39th place finish but he has two wins already in the 2018 PGA Tour season and that was as of the end of February. All the big name favorites will be talked about that week and Justin Thomas deserves to be on that list too!

At around 33-1 odds Matsuyama offers a really good payout if you pick him to win. Each year he gets better and it’s more a matter of when will he win a major, not if. He has a solid record at Augusta and has won against the best in the world at other top tournaments. In his 4 majors in 2017 he didn’t finish worse than 14th and finished eleventh at last year’s Masters. 33-1 odds…not too shabby of a pick to win in 2018!

Ranked in the top 20 in the world, Paul Casey has a record of a 6th, 4th and 6th place finish in his last 3 Masters attempts. He is a consistent hitter and feels very comfortable on the Augusta course. He was originally going to be a sleeper pick but after his big win over Tiger Woods at the Valspar Championship his odds decreased from 40-1 to 25 to 1 overnight.
